On January 31 - I self-published and launched my debut novel, a historical fiction, Our Fallen Woman at Canada's iconic Confederation Centre of the Arts in my home town of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Thanks to all that attended for making it feel less like a release, and more like a homecoming.
What began as a story of post-famine era Ireland, migration, reinvention and survival became an evening of song, shared heritage and experience. Live acoustic Irish ballads filled the room. Island voices carried the spirit of the story and community made it whole.
This was never just about a book. It was about honouring the Irish diaspora, the immigrant journeys that shaped so many Island families, and the women history exploited and tried to forget — stories we now carry forward together.
My sincere thanks to the Confederation Centre for opening your doors and supporting this launch with such generosity. And to Steve Bellamy, for helping bring this evening to life.
Most of all, thank you to the PEI community. Your warmth, your presence and laughter brought the journey full circle. Grateful.
